Bits & bobs: support the Queensland Literary Awards, MWF blogging

In response to QLD Premier Campbell Newman’s axing of the Premier’s Literary Awards, a passionate group of people have rallied together to make sure a version of the awards is still going ahead: the Queensland Literary Awards. The judges are hard at work and now they’re looking for some financial support so that the winning authors still receive a little moolah along with the prestige.

Read more about the project and pledge your support here. Do it!

I’m happy to announce that this year I will once again be an official blogger for the Melbourne Writers Festival. The last time I blogged for the fest was in 2010. The other bloggers are Stephanie Convery, who did a very fine job last year, and Mark Welker, who, as you know, is my co-producer on LiteraryMinded‘s ‘A Drink with…’ series. I’ll be putting up my first few posts over there in the coming days, and I’ll be cross-posting some of the blog posts here in the lead-up to, and during, the festival (23 Aug to 2 Sept).

I’ve had a sneaky look at the program and it’s very exciting. I’ll be very busy as I’m also running some events! More on that soon…

That said, since Mark and I will both be busy with MWF, the next ‘A Drink with…’ episode may not happen until after August, but we’ll see how we go. We might produce some videos under the MWF banner, if the opportunity arises. I’ll keep you posted!
